I was raised in a humble but loving home with strong family values by parents who stressed service to others. My dad was a clergyman, my mom a leader of several service organizations both in NY and Texas. From an early age I learned the importance of giving back to others and to be grateful for all the opportunities afforded me by this wonderful country of ours.
My wife Marlene and I are seventeen year residents of Plainview, with two wonderful daughters, Candice attending Syracuse University and Alexa entering JFK High School. As parents we impart the value of service to our daughters by example, Marlene is active in PTA and in 2009 was honored as a Founders Day Award recipient. Some of my areas of service are:
Plainview-Old Bethpage Board of Education for the past three years, 2008-2010:
Finance Committee President of Shelter Rock Church, Syosset/Manhasset/Hicksville, NY;
Member of Health and Safety Committee of The American Red Cross of Nassau County;
1991 served a two year term as Treasurer and Trustee on the Board of Directors for Forest Hills South Inc., Forest Hills, NY;
For the past several years have provided pro-bono tax preparation assistance to seniors, single mothers and needy families on Long Island.
My success in the business sector has been through dedication, hard work and the development of strong working relationships to meet goals and enhance the value of the organization. Since July of 1990 I have worked at Paul Scherer & Company LLP, NYC, a full service professional accounting firm, presently as IT Audit Director. Prior to this I worked on Wall Street for BankAmerica International, NYC, in the Internal Control & Audit department. I have lectured and given seminars on various finance, audit and technology subjects to both professional associations and the private business sector.
My willingness to serve a second term on the Board of Education is born of the desire to continue to help make our schools more successful, both academically and financially. As a Board of Education Trustee my goal will be to continue to contribute my skills and abilities to its leadership and my talents and experience to shaping its future.
